Community Outreach

A Spiritual House of Mission

A key part of our vision as a church

The house of God is a house on mission. At Christ Church, our desire is to be a community that overflows in good works of justice and mercy in our city and throughout the world.  We also strive to be a household that raises up servant leaders to impact our neighborhoods and catalyze church planting throughout Wisconsin, for the “harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few” (Matthew 9:37).
While we continue to pour into our Pastoral Residency and build our vision for Global Missions, we have spent a lot of time thinking and praying about how God is calling us to reach the lost and the least in our midst. Scroll down to read about our strategic priorities for community outreach, and our current partnerships.

Strategic Priorities

Relationship vs. Transation

We prioritize organic, relational ministries and engagement rather than sending money or volunteering where we have no potential for connection. We come humbly, serving in a way that is dignifying and healthy both for those being served and for those serving.

Development vs. Relief

We prioritize development work over short-term relief projects, aiming to see patterns of oppression and poverty broken, and the next generation free to thrive. We serve patiently, recognizing that lasting transformation takes time.

Partnership vs. Patronage

We prioritize partnering with individuals and organizations that have knowledge and experience in areas where we are not the experts. We will select these partners with care, and invest in relationship with them for the sake of mutual trust and true partnership.

Lighthouse ReSponse Team

Lighthouse is a bi-lingual, multi-ethnic church and school that we have built a growing friendship with over the years. Since 2024, we have a team of people who support Lighthouse families in need, by acquiring and delivering household items including furniture, linens, dishes and more. We use a tool called CarePortal to keep track of the requests. The team is composed of several different roles:
  • Providers help find the required items, either through donations or at stores,
  • Runners help pick up and move stuff (having a larger vehicle is really helpful!)
  • Storage hosts provide a staging area for items as we collect them, before we make the delivery,
  • Connectors are the face to face contact with the recipients (speaking Spanish is important for this role).
Training is required prior to serving on this team. If you're interested in joining, please fill out the form below.

Lighthouse Tutoring

Lighthouse Christian School offers bilingual Christian education for pre-K through middle school. We are joining them to staff their after-school program on Wednesdays from 3:30-5:30pm. Volunteers will provide 1:1 or small group support by reading to students and listening to them read books of their choice. During this time, there will be teachers facilitating the program and offering academic support to the other students in the session (Volunteers are not alone!) We are looking for volunteers who are willing to make this weekly commitment, and build relationships with the students and fellow workers.

Training will take place on Wednesday, 9/24, and the program will launch on 10/1.

If you'd like to volunteer, please fill out the form below, and we will be in touch about next steps.

Extended Hands FOod Pantry

Lighthouse Church provides space for the Extended Hands Food Pantry, which is open on Monday & Tuesday afternoons (1:30-6pm, opens at 2pm), Friday mornings (9:30-1pm, opens at 10am).  They could always use some extra helpers! Volunteers help people navigate the pantry, load into cars, and restock items to keep the space looking nice and tidy.

There is no signup to serve, you can simply show up and help out. Find out more on the Extended Hands website below.

Yada

Yada is a fair trade and resale shop, and gathering space helping women who have been trafficked move from surviving to thriving. The Hebrew word Yadá means “to be known.” There are several ways you can get involved in supporting Yada:
  • Shop at the store (2620 Parmenter Street, Middleton) - you can find clothing, gifts, and (very soon) coffee, sourdough & flowers
  • Volunteer – build relationships with the women, help with events, fix cars, whatever you're good at! Learn more.
  • Donate – clothing for all ages & all sizes, home goods and furniture.

If you're interested in learning more about human trafficking, what it looks like in the Madison area, and how organizations like Yada are fighting it, let us know by filling out the form below. We'll keep you posted about any future info sessions.
